Terms of Service

This page explains the rules of using Crash. It's a working agreement and may be updated as the service changes. Last updated: July 2026.

1. Accepting the terms

By accessing or using Crash, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

2. Who can use Crash

Crash is open to students and young professionals looking for flexible, short-term housing. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into rental or sublet agreements in your jurisdiction. You may not use the service for fraudulent, illegal, or misleading purposes.

3. Creating an account

You need an account (email and password) to list a sublet, save listings, or message other users. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe and for all activity under your account. Right now we don't require email verification at signup, so please don't use an email address you don't control, and let us know if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Listings

Anyone with an account can publish a listing with a title, location, price, availability dates, description, amenities, and up to 8 photos. Listings must be accurate and reflect the real availability, price, and condition of the space — don't post a listing for a place you're not authorized to sublet. You can edit, mark as leased, or delete your own listings at any time from your account. We (or our automated systems) may remove listings that violate these terms, appear fraudulent, or are reported by other users.

5. Messaging, blocking, and reporting

Messaging a host or a guest starts a private conversation that only the two of you can see — not other users, and not us, except as described in our Privacy Policy. Be respectful: don't harass, spam, discriminate, or share someone else's personal information without permission. You can block another user at any time, which hides that conversation from your inbox. You can also report a user or conversation; reports are reviewed by site administrators, who may warn, suspend, or remove accounts that violate these terms.

6. Payments and agreements

Crash is a discovery and messaging platform. We do not process rent, security deposits, or any payments between users. Any payment arrangement is strictly between you and the other party. Always meet, video-chat, or tour a space before sending money, use trusted payment methods, and get agreements in writing — never pay someone outside of trusted platforms based only on messages exchanged here.

7. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions, and messages you post, but you grant Crash a license to store and display that content on the platform so it works as intended (for example, showing your listing photos to other users, or delivering your messages to the person you're chatting with). Don't post content you don't have the rights to use, including copyrighted images or other people's personal information.

8. Account deletion and termination

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Account settings. Deleting your account removes your login entirely (you won't be able to sign back in with it) along with your profile, listings, and message history. This action cannot be undone. We may also suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or harm the community.

9. Limitations of liability

Crash connects people and spaces — we do not guarantee the accuracy of any listing, the identity or trustworthiness of any host or renter, or the outcome of any rental agreement. We are not a party to any sublet arrangement made between users. Use the platform at your own risk and take normal precautions before signing a lease or sending money.

10. Changes to the service

We may add, remove, or modify features as Crash grows. We will communicate material changes when possible, but reserve the right to update the service without notice.
